Since our founding in 1982, we've provided training, operator documentation, and writing services for a variety of clients in Wisconsin and around the world.

The operator documentation we produce (both hard-copy and on-line) is a collaboration among Zimmar staff, product designers, engineers and programmers, as well as end users. This gives us the in-depth understanding of product function and intent that results in truly user-friendly documents.

In the diagnostic imaging market, our staff has designed and produced documentation for a wide variety of equipment ... from standard x-ray to state of the art Magnetic Resonance systems. We approach operator documentation from the end user's point of view, ensuring that our products deliver the utmost value and utility.

Dorothy Green - Medical/Technical Writer

Dorothy produces writing that conveys the benefits of technological innovation to a clinical audience while explaining succinctly how the technology can be used most effectively. Her experience encompasses a wide range of GE Healthcare modalities, including CT, MR, Nuclear, and PET.

Before forming her own consulting business, Dorothy served as a Product Education Specialist, Development Specialist, and System Software Specialist for GE Healthcare.

For Zimmar, Dorothy has written and executed software validation/verification test plans designed to test both typical and atypical user gestures, software robustness, and product requirements. She has also researched and written manuals, newsletters, and customer release notes errata, presenting the issues and problems in a professional, concise format.

She has also edited manuals translated from Japanese to English to ensure that language and content conformed to the needs of the U.S. market.

Dorothy holds a BA degree in Professional Communications, with a minor in Computer Science, from Alverno College in Milwaukee.

 

 

Sarah Taylor - Medical/Technical Writer

Sarah provides Zimmar with exceptional multi-tasking and organizational aptitudes, with a high level of flexibility and capacity to succeed in geographically dispersed team environments. She has strong writing and creative skills and has the ambition to learn and incorporate new applications and technologies.

With Zimmar, Sarah has produced documentation, validation plans, evaluations, technical articles, and training materials for GE Healthcare. She's designed, developed, and edited print and online help documents with MadCap Flare, RoboHelp, and FrameMaker authoring tools for Magnetic Resonance (MR) and Interventional diagnostic systems and imaging coils.

As Information Integrator with GE Healthcare, Sarah designed and implemented digital and eLearning technologies using task and performance-oriented methods
for products in the MR modality, while managing the budget, resources, and schedules for documentation deliverables. She worked collaboratively with Applications teams and Content Engineering Management (CEM) resources to capture illustrations, create content, and organize information into a quality product for end-users.

Sarah holds a MS degree in Instructional and Performance Technology from Boise State University, a BS degree in Medical Imaging technology from Indiana University, and an Associate of Science degree from Indiana University.

She is a member of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists and is ARRT certified in Radiologic Technology and Advanced MR. Sarah is also Six Sigma Green Belt certified (DMAIC and DFSSc)

Steven Kerr - Technical Project Manager

Steve is a technical program and product manager with a passion for executing engineering and commercial projects delivering value added features, cost reductions, and process improvements.

During his career with GE Healthcare, he managed global product cost reduction initiatives involving redesign and supplier part transfers for X-ray imaging products. He identified cost reduction opportunities, developed business cases, obtained management funding, and led engineering team implementation to achieve cost objectives.

As Lead Program Integrator for GE Healthcare's PET/CT systems, Steve drove cross-functional execution of new product development, including specifications, budget, schedule, and resources.

Steve holds an MBA degree from Cardinal Stritch University, Milwaukee, WI. and a BSEE degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

His credentials include:

  • Six Sigma Certified
  • Energy Management Certificate (in-process for Apr. 2010) Milwaukee Area Tech College
  • Project Management Certificate, Milwaukee School of Engineering.

Steve is proficient in Microsoft Office tools, ERP, and PDM. He's also fluent in French.

 

 

Mary Zimmermann - President

Since 1983, Mary has been involved in creating operator documentation for virtually every MR platform developed by GE Healthcare. Her knowledge of the technology's legacy, its evolution, and its possibilities provide an invaluable resource for the entire Zimmar team.

As a former CT and MR technologist herself, Mary understands the needs and requirements of the clinical side of diagnostic imaging. Mary's combination of knowledge and experience makes it possible for her to produce useful, concise, and informative operator documentation.

Users of GE Healthcare MR products have long benefited from Mary's classes in basic and advanced MR physics and her systems operation courses. In addition to conducting the courses, Mary designed the course materials, which help attendees effectively communicate essentials to co-workers unable to take part in the classes.

Mary holds a Masters Degree in Adult Education from the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and a business degree from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee.

She is a member of the Society for Technical Communications, the American Society for Training and Development, the American Society of Radiologic Technologists, and the Society for Magnetic Resonance Technologists.

 

Pam Moen - Clinical Coordinator

Product validation is a key aspects of quality assurance. It requires the kind of patience and detail-minded attention that Pam Moen brings to Zimmar. An experienced MR technologist, Pam taps her knowledge of MR technology and her experience on the clinical side to help Zimmar produce the most effective operator documentation possible.

Pam has written and executed multiple Validation Test Plans on behalf of GE Healthcare, and she has served as clinical coordinator to interface between GE engineering and the user base.

Pam is a registered Radiologic Technologist and a registered Magnetic Resonance Technologist.

 


Ralph Zimmermann - Vice President

Ralph is a versatile writer able to craft content for any audience, from professional to technical to lay. He has honed his writing skills over a 30-year career in advertising and public relations.

As partner in a Milwaukee advertising agency, Ralph wrote effective, award-winning copy for media including print ads, direct mail, brochures, white papers, TV, radio, newsletters, annual reports, and the web. Among the clients he's served are GE Healthcare, NeoCoil, InVivo, Aurora Health Care, Modine Manufacturing, Medtronic Corporation, St. Jude Medical, Smiths Medical, Terumo Heart, Lanx,
and Hill-Rom.

For GE Healthcare, Ralph served as lead editor and project coordinator for the Field Notes end-user newsletter; he's edited and reformatted operator manuals for GE OEC Medical Systems; and created the operator manual for the Home Health division's QuietCare system.

Ralph holds a BA degree in English from the University of Utah. He's proficient in all MicroSoft Office tools, Adobe Flash, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe InDesign, and MadCap Flare. He's also fluent in German and proficient in Spanish.
